Qdod IjOms eijjoy ioi lqoiiw: litud be ie hm qcM.es Rebel fans from all over the South travel to Oxford every fall to take part in a zestful ritual - the tallgating before home games. To some, this experience is cherished far more than the actual football game itself. The day begins for Rebel fans with an early arrival in the Grove to set up picnic tables for the food and drinks. Tallgating in the Grove has become a fa- vorite pastime at Ole Miss. Whether the table is arrayed in silver dinnerware or simply with paper plates, the only thing everyone has in mind is having a good time. While everyone anxiously awaits the foot- ball team ' s traditional march through the Grove, families have an opportunity to talk with old friends or to make new ones. Even the youngest of Rebel fans enjoy the moment, and some hope one day to make that march themselves. The atmosphere in the Grove is one of ex- citement. With the children playing happily, and the alumni getting caught up in the days of yesterday, the picture seems very close to perfection. No one wants the day to come to an end. but when it does, they leave knowing that some- time soon they will have another chance to take part In this Ole IVIiss tradition. • by Shannon Massle — PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT Younges ters perform cheers and stunts in the Grove with aspirations of one day becoming an Ole Miss cheerleader, photo by Ken luey. 1 STILL NUMBER ONE. Night Life Oxford caters to Ole Miss students The night life in Oxford seems to Ibe exclusively for Ole Miss students, for businesses cater to them. Bars are a big favorite with most of the university students. There they have the opportunity to mix and mingle with friends and meet- ing new people. Often dates for the big campus functions are found here Some of Oxford ' s finest drinking establishments are Forresters, The Gin, Oxford Alley, Off the Wall, and Syd Harry ' s. At these bars, good mu- sic, great food and fun times go hand in hand. Whether one is are out to have a few drinks or to just dance the night away, the atmosphere is electric and the ac- tion is hot. An alternative to the bar scene is a night at the movies or, better yet. a trip to the Hoka Theatre for a piece of their famous cheesecake or hot fudge pie. The laid back atmosphere the Hoka almosts guarantees a good time. Of course, night life at Ole Miss would not be complete without men-j tioning those wild fraternity parties or parties at Oxford Square Apartments. For those who just want to relax andi have a calm night of fun, nights an ' often spent bowling, watching moviesi in the dorm, or just lounging around i rooms of friends. • - by Shannon Massie READY.
