Some of us were raised on Ole Miss, learning Hotty Toddy before we could say the alphabet. Some of us stumbled upon Oxford, Mississippi while checking out colleges as a high school senior. For those who unknowingly happened upon Ole Miss, the realization that they ' ve made a great discovery makes them smug to their other hometown buddies who have chosen inferior, lesser schools. They don ' t know what we know; if they knew, they ' d be here. As freshmen enrollment continues to escalate and as Chancellor Turner ' s Legacy of Achievement with a Vision for Tomorrow gains more recognition, more people will discover the reasons why Ole Miss is so special. Well, what is it about this place that creates such affinity? What is it that makes alums crazy with pride and generous with checkbooks? Why do we consider it the greatest school on earth? Why is this place so special? It is a number of things. The natural beauty of the campus and in the faces of people. It is also the atmosphere. A place of learning with an emphasis on the student and their abilities to achieve. We are encouraged by the administration to promote ourselves and in turn, the university. In our college community we grow and learn of ourselves by working with others. We experience.
