PARTY SCHOOL? We have been condemned as a Party School. Then you make the usual comeback: Any school ' s a party school if you make it that way. Thursday nights are big. Some people who go home often go out on Thursdays. Then all the other people figure they better get out on Thursday nights too, to see and be seen. We were talking about how big the Warehouse and the Gin used to be. Priscilla thought happy hour was making a comeback. We decided some bar needed to install a deck. What ' s going to happen when this 21 thing takes over someone asked. More fraternity parties? I ' ll bet some freshman entrepreneur starts mass producing fake-IDs, Bob said. Ole Miss is small enough so that you know or have heard of, most everyone. To walk in a bar and not know anyone is an impossibility. To walk around campus and not see anyone you know is an even greater impossibility.

THE CAMPAIGN AS AN ART FORM In this seriously democratic school, the campus-wide elections are looked forward to events in the fall and spring. Probably, everyone has participated in some way whether it be singing in a song group or holding a sign. Granted you meet the requirements of running for office, here are some general rules for running a campaign. 1) Choose a well-respected, campus personality who ' s had campaign experience to be a campaign manager. More than one campaign manager is desirable. 2) Establish a contact at each sorority and fraternity house as an In-house rep. They will speak for you in chapter meetings and get other people to help with the campaign. 3) Start eating lunches and dinners at different houses, cafeterias, and athletic dorm to meet more people. 4) Choose a co-ordinated person to think up the dance for the song group. 5) Choosing a song: it must be memorble and not hard to sing. 6) Choosing a song group: girls must be cute and popular; guys must also be popular and unafraid to be hams. 7) Campaign literature must be eyecatching and a very flattering picture of you. 1 ,000 flyers is a safe number to order. They must go on every last bulletin board on campus. Assign a literture-replenishing committee to check that the flyers are always still on boards. 8) Talk to the ROTC groups, pharmacy classes, large organizational meetings and any other place where a lot of people are congregated. 9) Dress for class. 10) Go out more often than usual. 1 1) Strategic days for ad placement in the Mississippian first and last day of the campaign, and the Thursday and Friday of the campaign. 13) Fine your sponsoring organization if they are not always wearing the nametag that sports your name and picture. 14) Rallies in dorms are a good way to meet independents. If you know any other influential campus leaders, this would be a good opportunity for them to speak for you. It ' s not what you know, it ' s who you know. 1 5) Remember, not everyone is as into this campaign as you are. Some people couldn ' t care less. Only a little over 10% of the population votes.
