Certainly, there was class, loo much of it usually, and. sometimes, wonderfully not enough. ( lass-papers—exams—years later you will still cringe a little when someone mentions finals. Late nights of study, of too much coffee, too many cigarettes, too little sleep. The joy of a well-earned grade: the pathos of deserving a bad one. And always a fresh start every quarter, always a second chance, no matter what. Nostalgic fragments—hearing the Northrop chimes at twilight, the first snow of the year on the Mall, and the rush to sit on the library steps in the first sun of spring. The teacher who really understood, friends who knew what you meant, and those long, late talks that almost solved the world. Knowing that the best of college isn't books- These four years are a long haul, and good or bad. few ever wish to live them through again. You leave with a stack of notes and a stack of memories, but mainly you leave changed-you cannot have been one of the 35.000 here and emerge the same. 5
