Om Jclavfebz MMM. Our theme for this yearbook is Our School ln Mobile. We have assembled in this volume a record of people, places, and events which have been associated with our school chiefly since The Cadet of 1959 went to press. In presenting Our School ln Mobile as the theme, we want to emphasize that our school has a history, a meaning, and a distinct spirit. We are reminded of the school history every time we refer in our Cadet Prayer to those who have gone before us. ln our handsome, new school building we see the product of alumni. patrons, stu- dents, faculty, and friends to whom UMS has held a profound meaning. XVhen Dr. Julius T. Wright started his first class of boys in the fall of 1893, the spirit of UMS was, born. Thar spirit is alive today. We do not separate our school from our city. The history of UMS is a part of the history of Mobile. As the city has grown, so UMS has grown. The affairs of our school today are bound up with the affairs of the city in a thousand ways. XVe trust that in The Cadet 1960 you will find 11 true reflection of Our School In Mobile. The Editor
