The Christian Medical Society is a non-denomi- national, international organization of physicians, dentists, nurses, medical and dental students who share the recognition of the need to satisfy man's spiritual as well as physical needs. In a CMS Journal article dealing with transplantation issues and ethics, Carlyle L. Saylor spoke of progress through a uniquely Christian perspective. One who has found a relationship with Christ to be essential to his life has broadened his possibilities and his obligations. To be a part of the discovery and application of pro- cesses that offer longer, more pain-free life to others is a privilege. To be an expression of divine compas- sion is an obligation. To utilize the processes of sci- ence and of human relationships to further the pur- poses of God in the world-that is progress. To the end that this sort of progress is made and that the reality of the faith may be experienced by many, the Christian Medical Society exists. The student chapter at the University of Michigan meets monthly and at shorter inter vals on a smaller group basis. Often physicians from the mission field or from private practice have visited the group, sharing their own personal experiences and thoughts A number of the group have spent a part of their selective periods at foreign missions Let it not be forgotten that the wives constitute a strong part of CMS activities Front Row left to right-S.
