ATHLETICS It's trueg lawyers do play sports. Not only does the great mob make use of the handball, paddleball, squash courts, and the Law Club's once-green grass, but they also participate in, and often dominate, the University's Graduate Division Intramurals Program. The Athletic Department organizes and administers league play and tournaments for graduate groups inno less thantwelve sports-softball, tennis, golf, touch football, handball, bowling, basketball, table tennis, volleyball, paddleball, swimming, and horseshoes-, and Law Club members participate in all of them. In all but a few, the representation is at least four times as great as that of most graduate organizations, since law students make up the membership of the Lawyers Club proper. Infootball and basketball, still more law students annually compete on independent graduate teams. In such sports, the number of law students involved in the program approaches one-third the total number of graduate students participating. At this mid-point in the athletic year, the teams playing for the Lawyers Club have accumulated a sufficient string of high placings to keep the Club within easy reach of an All-Year Championship, which can be secured with good showings in basketball, swimming, and table tennis. Those events have always been the special provinces of the Law Club teams. It is hoped, by those who profess to know, that such a Championship can be clinched before the final activity of the Spring, horseshoes, comes upg whatever might be said in other contexts, it appears that, as to that grand old sport, the Law School does not house too many ringers. . , '- ' u .5 l.'..'v' A D' in 'vti 5 .s'.f' ' On ' ' 1. J Remember, now, when the receiver looks up for the ball f SOCIAL LIFE It's been rumored that Law School is a pretty dull place. Something about reading, writing, and racking. Some of the more determined law Students decided that undergrad days weren't really gone forever and channeled their desires into Bill Herman, the Social Chairman of this year's Board of Directors. The result was a promising plunge into the untapped area of comradeship above and beyond the traditional coffee break. Starting on a relatively high plane with a Freshman-Faculty Smoker in August, the program rapidly began a delightful descent into really good times with the coming of the Last Blast. The Road Runners provided the sounds, the Quad provided the scene. A good turnout was seen, and we even spotted some truly-delicious young ladies. October brough a mixer with the Nurses, followed two weeks later by a barn-type dance at Susterka Lake. This latter was outstanding-Levis, bulky sweaters, sounds, fireplace, suds and suds. Fall semester was topped off with the Annual Thanksgiving Dance, which featured semi-formal attire, Mike Lynch's bunch providing sophisti- cated tunes, and a fine performance by the Psurfs. Quite dignified. First on the agenda for second semester was a repeat performance at 'Susterka Lake, coyly entitled Blast-Off '65. This little gathering began at three in the afternoon and somehow staggered its way into the wee hours of the morning. April brought a change of pace with the Spring Musical.
