However, the winds of the Hurricane blew fiercely as well, carving a path of national recognition for the University ofMiami. Perhaps no where else did the storm rage more violently than in the Orange Bowl. Hurricanefans stirred with excitement and enthusiasm, whipping the winds into action. A viscious home crowd combined with unparallelled athletic teams made UM a feared opponent in every sport. This reputation was not undeserved. With a yearfull ofvictories, UM's athletic teams successfully proved that the University 's image as a national power was attained through hard work and practice.
