I Science . . . But once again sum- mer came and soon allowed us to broadened our horizons as Juniors. Ah, Junior year, we were more than halfway through. But it was still to far to think about ‘the real world’ and work. There was still plenty of time to have fun. Fun??? I don’t re- member having fun Junior year, all I remember is working my butt off to get decent grades. I remember thinking,” when are these teachers going to give us a break???” I still haven’t figured that one out. I wonder if profes- sors get a commission on the students they flunk (and a pay cut for the one’s that get A’s). In all fairness though there actually are some very fine teachers at U. Lowell. 87-88 was a somewhat event- ful year. We had our Casino Nights, a few concerts, lots of tests, and all that usual U. Lowell stuff. One of the high- lights of the year was when the U. Lowell Basketball team went all the way and became the N.C.A.A. Division II Champi- ons. One of the “lowlights” was when the Greeks were banned from the University. I think the realization that our college careers would soon come to an end hit most of us that year especially when we saw some of our friends that were Seniors getting jobs. Soon that would be us! Soon came sooner than we thought, Senior year was upon us. The most important part of Senior year (besides graduation) was getting that job you wanted, or into the graduate school of your choice. This started very early in the year for many of us and so did the stress that came with it. - continued page 14 Opening 13

I always believed that false rumor that Senior year was the easiest. Wrong!!! Senior year (at least the first semester) made the first three years of college look like High School. The good thing about the work was that it was meaningful and provided us with a chance to pull together all the basics we had been taught and utilize them to solve the problems given (I still say that glue would have kept that ball from rolling). The bad thing about the work was that there was plenty of it. Looking back at these last four years , I think we all will agree that the University of Lowell has been a fine institu- tion. The administration, fac- ulty, and all the other people who help it be what it is should really be thanked. I think this is a very appropriate place for doing so.... Thanks to each and every one of you fot making it possible to give us the quality education that we have earned here at the University of Lowell. We will all have different memories of our sojourn at the University of Lowell. I hope, through my pictures and this story that I was able to help you recall some of those memories a little better. I wish you all fulfillment of your dreams and the best of luck in your future endeavors. Good-bye to my friends in E.E., the S.I.C., around the University, and to the Sojourn staff, whom with- out, you would not be reading this now. Jim Lavallee ’89 E.E. 14 Opening
