Peirent retired as coordinator of the freshman chemistry labratories, after servinghis alma mater for nearly fourty years. J Professor Peirent attend Lowell Textile Institute for hir his undergraduate degree. While obtaining his masters, he ttaught chemistry at Lowell 'Technological Institute. By I963, he had been promoted to associate professor, and in I97O, to Professor of Chemistry. il During WWII he was in the army-airforce as a pilot and aviation engineer. He is recognized as an expert in textile chemistry and dying. jThroughout his teaching career, Professor Peirent also worked with Natick laboratories in these fields. I The Professor has dedicated his life to chemistry and has shown us how truely fascinating this subject is. Teaching and coordinating Freshman 4Chemistry Laboratories has put the professor in close contact with every student who has ever taken Chemistry 84.l23 and 84.I24. He could always be seen moving about the labs at a quick clip, or telling you to wear your saftey glasses. His assistants know his as personable, lhard working, energetic, sincere, and the kind of boss they'd love to be. He always hed time to teach you something new, and he wanted you to lenjoy learning it. l As mhe retires, the professor intends to spend more time with his family, and to enjoy photography, one of his hobbies.
