get together in your room to enjoy some Doors and a few brews. Imagine the scene- you've just sparked the first bowl of the night when . . . 'lcnock, knock. knock . . . Gimme your I.D. smoking is illegal, beer should be in glasses, and more than five in a room is a party and for breaking . . . who said Hitler was dead? He was reincar- nated as a floor counselor. Enough. Enoughl Let's talk about those special moments, such as getting that phonecall from a spe- cial someone. This is an beautiful and exciting moment if you were able to stay awake for the telly to finally be free long enough for your call to come through. lf this miracle actually does occur, the birds are by now beginning their morning song. Anyways, the long awaited caller gave up six hours ago after getting thirty-seven con- secutive busy signals. Too bad you're not so popular. So, at this point, it's time to skip everything else and to head out to some low life establishment fi.e.: barb. Take your anxious body to the 'vater, press the button and wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. Better yet, take the stairs. jello legs are always fun for a night out. After all these hassles l hear ev- eryone screaming Why? Well. why not. Where else could a stu- dent, amid all the aggravations and assholes, meet some really great people and collect a long list of excellent times Cwhich actually do happenj. Ask me to commute? NEVER! Habitat Hassles Imagine, if you can, what it would be like to live with thirty- five Danvers State rejects, all on one floor, all sharing four showers, and one telephone. Now, imagine this situation existing for nine months a year for four years. Are you shaking et? This arrange- Y ment is referred to as dorm Iife. ln this lovely living environment you must perform all your activi- ties of daily living- if you dare. For starters, if your classes begin between Stw and IO:OO 'better start heading for the shower at four A.M., because after that time the hot water is shut off and the lines for the showers back up to the elevators. If you do make it through the showering throng, and if you somehow have managed to salvage thirty minutes before class, school officials allow you to attend what they call breakfast. Yes folks, for half a grand a year you. too, can eat fried silly putty and buttered floor tiles. After that's thrown, and of course, after you've slept through twelve hours of lectures you have the emense joy of returning to your 4 X4 box to enjoy a peaceful night of study. Peaceful? Oh, yes, it's peaceful if you get into Bach's B-Minor Mass played full blast as background music for the cacaphony of the other box creatures watching Gil- ligan's Island reruns on the lobby tube outside your door. Oh, and of course you cannot forget the nym- phomaniac upstairs whose bed- springs have not stopped rattling since September. But, l'II be hon- est, there are those moments when you and a few good friends 20
