Above we see the two cute causes of Mr. Joyce ' s apolo- TO THE CLASS OF 1957 We have, you and I, come to the open sea after four years of travelling down the river symbol- ized in the theme of this year ' s Knoll — a river traversing your college undergraduate life. We have shared the calm placid reaches of the academic stream where our journey was easy and pleasant, and we have shared the rapids and cataracts where the going was hazardous and trying. Now, when the swirling current of the river mingles with the deep surge of the ocean — the world outside our ivied walls — we prepare to part. For both of us, however, this is really only another beginning. You are about to embark on your new career, perhaps the finest open to anyone — that of teacher to the young. As a librarian, I, or my colleagues, will continue to serve you in your new undertaking. I, therefore, take my leave of you now knowing that you will continue to grow in wisdom and understanding and looking forward to the time when we will meet once more. iUl£Ci y«
