Then, too, we knew a few other people who are no longer here to welcome the incoming classes. Do you remember these teachers, who helped to brighten our first two years at the College— Dr. John R. Hart, Professor Christine Kane, Professor Marie Guerin, and Librarian Irene McDonald? Although we had all these people to help us, it was quite some time be- fore we became accustomed to the newness of college life. We were not the only ones to feel the strange- ness of new experiences, however, for with us came others— new professors who helped to make our col- lege even better than it was. As you were a fresh- man too, you must have experienced the same lost feeling we knew at times, even though everyone was so helpful and friendly. D. Procopio, M. Wilson, C. Thompsom F. Caliri, H. M. HP : . P?v : ' , • t| ■• ' 1 :.. ' H pw Sf v -j I met you first early in May or June, or possibly as late as September in the year 1951. You came up the front walk all alone, or with a friend, or with a parent, turned left and entered the Dean ' s office for your interview. I met you again when you came to our Orientation program just before college opened, September the tenth. Then there were upperclass- men here to greet you, too. We spoke of you as a group of very nice young people starting out on your college career and were happy that you were to be with us at Lowell. I have never had occasion to change my original opinion, and as you read the pages of this annual you will know why. Miss Gourville proved to be a stabilizing influence on us during our first weeks here, but she was not the only person who tried to make us welcome here at L. T. C. We found here these other teachers, all of whom tried to make us feel at home. II. Erase, E. Ncilson, D. A. Hiscoe L. Knowles,]. Fitzgerald,!. Pioberts 10

When we recall the warm welcome given to us by all of these faculty members, we can- not help but remember the contrast of the first greeting we received from our sister class. It was so friendly!- FRESHMEN DON ' T SMILE! We shook in our shoes every time we heard these words, or spotted the too familiar pink ribbon which symbolized the au- thority of the mighty Juniors. There were times when we were sure that our sister class really hated us. 12
