Former trustee and friend of Dr. and Mrs Gettys, Mr. C. R. Clements of Killeen, pre- sented the first tribute during dedication ceremonies for the new dormitory. Miss Rachael LaRoe paid tribute to the college benefactors. She repre- sented the faculty of the college. 1 ,-v James H. Russell represented the city of Belton at the program. 143

Gettys Memorial Dormi- tory was completed in August, 1965 and dedication cere- monies were held on Septem- ber 19, following a luncheon in Hardy Hall. It was the first residence hall to be con- structed at MH-B in more than 45 years. The building was named in honor of the late Dr. A. C. Gettys and Mrs. Gettys of Vernon. edcbaaaa' GETTYS MEMORIAL DORMITORY Debbie Dickson, great niece of Dr. and Mrs. A. C. Gettys cut the ribbon formally opening the new dormitory. She was assisted by her father, Mrs. Gettys and Dr. Arthur K. Tyson. ' 'dl 142 1 1 V Dr. Tyson accepted the new building on behalf of the col lege. He also delivered a tribute to Dr. and Mrs. Gettys behalf of the college administration.
