Past Vice-Pres. of the Hillel Foundation this year. Member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity. An ardent curler. Harold Bud K. Irving Envied for his fierce competitive spirit, courage and zeal. Bud's sincere, aggressive attitude makes him unanimous choice for classmate most likely to succeed. Believed to have considered university as sanctuary from clamouring ladies but not adequate protection from one who will lead Bud down the aisle very soon. John G. Karasivich Oakburn, Man. Attended Oakburn High School. In 1930 completed second year Arts at University of Manitoba. Spent seven years as land appraiser with Manitoba Re- habilitation Commission. In 1940 enlisted with R.W.R., served over- seas with Captain's rank. Entered first year law in 1948. Married in 1935. Has wife and three children. Veteran's organizations take up his spare time. M. Martin Winston E. Norton Charming, friendly and popular- well remembered by the many committees with which he has been connected in Arts and Law. Vice- President of M.1...S.A. and foremost among faculty debaters-returned from wartime airforce service to a successful university career. N, ...T fiftgism MZ' Colin C. Henderson A good student and enthusiastic about his work in law, Colin is an honest and sincere person. He has the qualities that make for success in the legal profession and should go a long way. A. A. Hirschfield Ozzie is our perennially cheerful budding Leibowitz. Likes his wine and food strong, his women fairly weak. As the latter sometimes tell him, he should go far. Seldom at a loss for an answer, Ozzie loves a good argument. Ernest Gothard Iohnson Winnipeg, Man. Studious, scholarly and active in community life, he is the only consistent dissenting ludge of the Moot Court of Appeal. The father of two childrenAhe believes that polygamy is an essential condition of societyefor others. Harold T. Martin Winnipeg, Man. Our handsome and versatile athletic director. A product of East Kildonan Collegiate and St. 1ohn's Tech. Possesses pronounced organizational ability. He numbers among his assets a beautiful wife and an abounding confidence in a successful future. Robert M. McKay Swan River, Man. Received his pre-legal education in the class- rooms of United College from which he emerged with a degree in Arts in 1948. Secretary of the Law Students Association-active in a wide range of extra-curricular activities which include rugby, curling and hockey. Cam Millar A fine fellow, good sport and a serious-minded student. One of Manitoba's better young golfers, a member of the Dominion Champion Monarch Hockey Club in 1945 and of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1949 and 1950. 1950-elected presi- dent of his fraternity, Sigma Lambda Phi. Harold Folliott Gyles Winnipeg, Man. A graduate of Kelvin, Harold is a past president of the Winnipeg Chapter ot the Delta Upsulon Fraternity and the immediate past president of the Manitoba Law Students Association. Future plans, Gyles and Gyles, tMr. and Mrsl and Gyles and Gyles Cbarristers and Solicitorsl. Alphonse Beaupre Very easy to know and with a like- able and generous nature. Alph married an English girl while over' seas with the R.C.A.F. during the war and is now the proud father of three boys. He plans to practice law in Winnipeg. James T. Bourke Ex R.C.A.F. man Tall lim is blessed with the blarney. Can always be relied upon to deliver a yoke, funny or otherwisep St. lames will feel his influence in the years to come. Hugh Windsor Cooper Winnipeg, Man. Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Navy 1940-46, United 1946-48, Law 1948-51. Married to a girl both charming and beautiful. A logical and omniscient mind. Uses the Socratic method in argument. A personable young man with a bright future. An Honours student in law and active in U.M.S.U. circles. John O. Donovan Popular student and orator. Bidding his army commission farewell, lohn launched on a university career to set a scholastic record by completing four years each of Arts and Law from lanuary 1946 to April 1951. Now Sr. U.M.S.U. Rep. he is well known for his leadership in extra- curricular work and athletics. Julius Glowacki A versatile character who excels not only in the legal field but is quite adept with a brush. The proof of this can be seen in some of Winni- peg's finer homes. A Naval Veteran with North Atlantic Service. He intends to practice law in Winnipeg. Page 162 Frank Dennison Allen Virden, Man. Born and schooled at Virden. Unusual combination of red hair and no temper. Member of Phi Kappa Pi Fraternity. Plans on practicing law and keeping the girls happy, not necessarily in that order. Gordon Barkman Steinbach, Man. Graduate of Stein- bath Collegiate. A good sport on and off the field-an army veteran. Gord has two ambitions, first is to graduate in law, and second is to raise a family. May he succeed in both. Don Burgess Always has a law book in his hand other kinds in his brief case. Claims to be uninterested in women. Don also thinks he's a curler but seems to be the only one having that opinion. Gets by in his law course remarkably well with little effort. Fears pro- liibition. Wilf Cardin Wilt is our candid camera expert. Buys and sells '50 Pontiacs. Married with two little ones. His sole claim to fame is one picture published in Life and Saturday Evening Post. For some peculiar reason has never had any trouble with Touts or Evidence. Arnold Facey Boissevain, Man. A very eligible bachelor from Boissevain, Manitoba! Arnold is a quiet sincere chap who saw service with the R.C.A.F. during the 2nd World War, and graduated from United College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948. Paul C. Gold Winnipeg, Man. Graduate of St. lohn's High School. Received B.A. in l947. He is an honours student in law. ln 1947 Assistant of Musical Programs U.M.S.U. and 1948 Chair- man of Publicity, U.M.S.U. In 1950 he was elected President of the North Winnipeg Young Liberal Association and the Provincial Treas- urer of the Manitoba Young Liberals.

Gordon E. Pilkey A married veteran, Gord came to Law from Daniel lvlaclntyre. Royal Canadian Navy and United College, BA. '48, A guiet and reserved nature does little to hide his subtle wit. Gords attitude toward life is a combination of those of lvfohandus Ghandi and l. P. Morgan. Clarence E. Riach Contrary to the popular theory, Clarence has combined active parti- cipation in every field of faculty athletics, with a top scholastic record. Clarence's convenorship is synonomous with success. Thinks he'd prefer practicing in a less populated area. Charles G. Smith One of the University's most accom- plished debaters. Three times a McGoun Cup debater. President, Debating Union 1949-505 inter- faculty debating champion in his pre-law yearg premier Broadway Mock Parliamentp News Editor of of Canada's Other Great in 1946. Tau Delta Phi Fraternity. Heir apparent to Clarence Darrow. Morton A. Slusky Winnipeg, Man. Ex-Navy, married, drives a new Studebaker and every morning runs a jitney service to Salisbury House for coffee. Through- out lectures his favorite comment is, This is silly, we should be out making money. The legal pro- fession will be enriched by an aggressive, forthright, and very promising young man. Percy Raymond Stapley Percy entered University in 1944 and completed his Arts Degree at United College. An honour student in Law, his favorite sports are soccer, skiing, track and field and girls. Percy held position of Presi- dent of Athletics at United. His aim for the future is to make money. I. F. Reeh Taylor England's contribution to our hal- lowed halls, Reeh Cprcnounced Rayl is a Navy type who has exchanged sweeping the seas for the less hazardous task of sweeping the kitchen. Has the faculty of stumping the lecturers, the class and himself with pertinent questions. Poge 164 John T. Moyles Wolseley, Sask. Was overseas with the R.C.A.F. for five years and still finds time to attend C.O.T.C. regularly. ls often seen escorting his wife to gay parties. He is all set to hang up that shingle in a Manitoba town. James Simpson Winnipeg, Man. lim is an Air Force veteran whose friendly dis- position has won him a high popularity rating among his fellow law students. He is happily married, is a bridge enthusiast thas won several tournament prizesl. His future plans are not definite, but lim has the qualities which assure his future success. Sidney I oel Spivak Winnipeg, Man. Completed 2nd year Arts Manitoba University, winning the B'nai Brith Scholarship. An honours student in law, Sid won the lsbister Scholarship, National Trust, and Carswell prizes in 3rd year. Extra-curricular activities- President of Hillel and leader in Faith Councils in Winnipeg. Louis I . Stack Calgary, Alberta. This proud native of Calgary came to us by way of Queen's University following a stint with the Canadian Army. He has the appearance and personality of one not easily perturbed, the unfailing lrish tendencies, will rally in short notice when the occasion arises. Malcom H. Stanbridge Quiet and reserved, but can be a man of action when the occasion demands. Favors the classics in music, and the country life. Con- siders himself an enlightened Con- servative. Hopes to practice on his own hook some day. W. Troughton
