, v Commerce ctivities 4 4 IN our classes, in our social events, and in our sports activities we had a good year in 1950-51. Toby Miller proved to be one of the best of Commerce's Senior Sticks, al- though he ruled his Council meetings with a firm hand. We started the year off socially with a Freshie Reception which combined a Weiner roast off campus with a dance in the Residence Aud. Freshmen and Freshettes alike re- ported that they thoroughly enjoyed their introduction to the rest of the Commerce student body. The Men's Stag was an event of November. At this affair, Commerce students again upheld their reputation for holding one of the best Stags on campus. This was verified by the number of absentees the following morning. For the girls, the two main events were their Fall and Spring Teas. The Fall Tea, Page 108 I otherwise known as the Girls' Stag, was in honor of the Freshettes, while the Spring Tea was in honor of both faculty wives and 1951 graduates. Of course the big event of the season was the Grad's Farewell, which was held at the Fort Garry in March. The 1951 Class assured themselves that it was the best yet . Under the direction of Tom Moore, Faculty Athletic President, Commerce men partici- pated fully in inter-faculty events, as shown by their placing first in the inter-mural point standing at Christmas. ln golf had the low four for the inter-mural championship. In soccer, our Senior team made the finals, and our lunior team made the semi-finals. Out- standing Commerce athletes were Ralph Masecar, in soccer, lerry lanzen in basket- ball, and Ken Little, our star athlete. Norm Elsey held up his end as the old man of the team.
