Along with these activities he still has time for faculty sports and Zeta Psi fraternity, If a poll were taken of the most popular boys in the class, it is safe to say Ardie would be near the top. Henry Iantz Laighan, Sask. Finance Option. Spent four years with the artillery. Entered Engineering in 1947, but switched to Commerce in 1948. Was Senior faculty Rep. on the Curling Club Council and a member of the Rifle Club. Henry is single and intends to enter business. Harry Kury Vernon, B.C. Finance Option. Entered university to relax after spending four years as a Sergeant with the Canadian Paratroopers. Spends his vacations with the C.O.T.C. in Montreal. ls married and has two prospective Commerce students. Plans to enter the Ordi- nance Branch of the Regular Army. Kenneth Little Winnipeg, Man. Finance Option. High school, Daniel Mclntyre. Kenny is very well known in local sports circles. ln between his activities in junior sports, he has played inter faculty soccer, basket- ball and hockey. This year's advertising manager for Enterprise. Also manages to pick up the odd dime during those Hearts sessions. Gordon F. Mintenko Winnipeg, Man. Finance Option. High school, Daniel Mclntyre. Gord entered University in 1948. Since then he has been active in the C.O.T.C. He took Estey from the library every Friday during the fall, but said he never read it. His plans for the future are indefinite. Robert D. Murray Princeville, U.S.A. A U.S. Army veteran. Has been active in extra curricular activitities, and has managed to extend his social activi- ties to include serious connections with one of the Home Ec's. Plans to enter the Consulting Actuary field. Page lO6 Fourth Year General Ralph Allen Huband Finance Option. Was circulating manager for Enterprise last year, and is president of the Commerce Club this year. Never guilty of studious labor, he still manages to obtain better than average exam results. An expert on baseball, he astounds everyone by reeling off scores of obscure statistics and averages. Michael Kazakoff Kamsack, Sask. Was a Navy Lieutenant during the war, before his siege with Actuarial Science. Mike is quiet, friendly, and an all around good guy. Donald F. Lee Winnipeg, Man. Finance Option. High school, North Kildonan Colle- legiate. Don has been active in the University Contingent of the C.O.T.C. lt is said that he is an asset to any Commerce Stag. He plans to enter the business world this spring. Richard John Mills Wilmette, Illinois. Has been active on Commerce football, curling, and track teams. Was 5th year Rep. to Commerce Council. Dick will return to the States and there will enter the service of either the Kemper Insurance Co. or the U.S. Army. Thomas D. Moore Winnipeg, Man. Marketing Option. High schools Kelvin and St. Pauls. Tom is the athletic president of the faculty, and has been active in hockey, track and basketball. He is also active in the Newman Club. Has an infectious laugh. Should be an asset for some lucky firm. Harold O. Noyd Wetaskiwin, Alta. Spent two years with the Army Signal Corps. Attended University of Alberta for one year but realized his mistake in time. Active in curling and l.C.U.F. Ambitions: marriage and Actuarial work. A quiet friendly chap, he'll do well with both.

Fourth Year General David Alex Purves Winnipeg, Man. Finance Option. High school, Gordon Bell. Along with other fanatics, Dave is glad to see the winter come, because then he can get out his skis. Said to be quite skillful himself, but is a poor teacher where cute young ladies are concerned. ls a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. Future intentions: grain business etc. Robert A. Scott Port Arthur, Ont. Finance Option. High school, Daniel Mclntyre. Mem- ber of Commerce Council and Men's Residence House Committee. Spends his summers in the C.O.T.C. lnterested in skiing, soccer, basket- ball, and six-man rugby. Hopes to do investment work. Thomas A. Sigurds on Winnipeg, Man. Finance Option. High school, Daniel Mclntyre. Tom entered University in 1947. Since then he has been active in the U.M.N.T.D., especially in the Gun Room. Tom's future plans are as yet indefinite. Gasmer I . Stanwick Melrose, Man. Finance Option. Gasey entered University in l947, after spending three years with the R.C.A.F. A bowling enthusiast, he has been a member of a champion- ship team both in 1947 and in 1949. His plans for the future include a trip to Mexico. After this he'll probably Work in Windsor. Eric I . Trewitt Calgary, Alta. Marketing Option. Eric attended high school in both Regina and Calgary. He is another lad with a good academic record. He is active in his fraternity, Zeta Psi. As one of the tall boys, he is a Eatiiral for his favorite sport, basket- a . Stanley Thomas Williams Pleasantdale, Sask. Finance Option. Stan is one of the Residence men. Interested in soccer, curling and skating. Spent five years in the R.C.A.F. in Europe, Africa and S.E. Asia. Owns a beautiful automobile. Most popular man in Residence. His intentions are indefinite. Fourth Year General Alexander E. Selwood Winnipeg, Man. A veteran of three years in the army. Favorite sport, hockeyffavorite saying, I'm turn- ing over a new leaf tomorrow, honest! We expect Al to become a successful Actuary for some lucky insurance company. Leo Schicher Winnipeg, Man. Finance Option. High school, St. Iohn's Tech. Leo entered University in 1947, and since that time has acquired an enviable academic record in addi- tion to a reputation as one of the campus bridge experts. He de- scribes his future intentions as hazy. Peter James Spellman London, England. Put in a five year stretch with the R.A.F. finishing as a Squadron Leader. Winner of a Hudson's Bay scholarship. Has kept busy instructing fencing and serving on Council as 2nd and 3rd year Rep. and as Vice4Stick. Pet ambitions: to become independently wealthy and an actuary. John Armand Storwick Winnipeg, Man. Finance Option. High school, Kelvin. lohn is Treasurer for both Commerce Council and his fraternity Phi Delta Theta. Although he has four scholarships to his credit, he still complains of lack of funds. To date has spent his summers with the army in Montreal. Future intentions -business. Ernest Richard Vogt Steinbach, Man. Has been active in soccer, volleyball, tennis and track and field. Ernie is undecided about his future, but we know from his record at U that his success is inevitable. ' CAMERA SI-W Douglas George Groves Our oldest student. He's married and is the father of two children. A veteran, he got his high school training on the C.L.E.S. plan, and then entered the Actuarial option. Stephen Kuryliw Bodgar, Man. High school, St. Anne, Man. Interests range from symphonic music to uroughing it in Northern Ontario. Will enter the Insurance Business. Page lO7
