Fifth Year Honors John C. Landeryou Lethbridge, Alta. An outspoken advocate of the Social Credit Party. Part American, Johnnie served three years as a Sgt, with the U.S. Army Airforce during the last war. His wife and two children require most of his attention outside John Roland Reimer Steinbach, Man. A veteran of three years with the R.C.A.F. Quiet and industrious, but manages to find time for both athletics and social actiinties. His secret ambition is to be president of the Reliance Life Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh. Charles George Thomas Albuquerque, New Mexico. He served with the U.S. Army for two years, and, upon discharge, entered U. Charlie received his B.S. degree in Mathematics in 1950 from the University of New Mexico, and plans to pick up a second degree from Manitoba. Fourth Year General Donald J. Bowman Winnipeg, Man. Finance Option. High school, Gordon Bell. Phi Kappa Pi fraternity. Won Hudson's Bay scholarship. Lent his vocal talents to the Choral Society. Was 2nd, 3rd and 4th year Commerce Club Rep. ls a member of a famous campus bridge foursome. Married and has a baby boy. Brian O. Champion Winnipeg, Man. Marketing Option. High school, Kelvin. Worked on U.M.S.U. freshman committee in l949 and was Commerce Social Representative in 'SO. Spends summers digging for various metals in one of Manitoba's better mines. One of our favorite students. Betty Jean Emery Finance Option. Commerce Rep. to the Brown and Gold for two years. ls circulation manager of same this year. Winner of Employers' Asso- ciation of Manitoba Scholarship I 19501. Fifth Year Honors Jerry M. Moscovitch Winnipeg, Man. High school, St. lohn's Tech. Has combined many activities with his Actuarial studies. Scholarship holder, Glee Club Business Manager, Hillel Councillor, Senior Sports Award Cup winner. Generally remembered for the time, the skin of his ankles saved his ejection from a high window. Harold A. Still Winnipeg, Man. High school, Kel- vin. Tried his luck as scientist for a year, but found Actuarial Science more to his liking. Has been active in Commerce basketball and volley- ball. Was Chairman of the Choral Society l947-50. Future will be taken up by his Actuarial work and by a certain young lady. Fourth Year General Wilson V. Barbour Marketing Option. One of the best students in our year, proof positive being the long list of scholarships he has won. As Commerce U.M.S.U. Rep. has actively participated in U.M.S.U. activities ranging from Freshie Weeks to Finance Corn- mittee. A member of Sigma Lambda Phi fraternity. James W. Burns Marketing Option. Has been kept busy this year holding down two jobs, assistant U.M.S.U. Treasurer, and Advertising Manager of the Telephone Directory. Also active in faculty sports and Zeta Psi fraternity. Punctuates his discus- sions with growls faintly resembling those of a wounded grizzly. Norman F. Elsey Winnipeg, Man. Finance Option. High school, Kelvin. Vice-stick of faculty and active in soccer, hockey and curling. ls a member in good standing of the R.C.N.tR.l. To date he is unattached. Future intentions indefinite but wants to make pots of money. James F. Flynn Winnipeg, Man. Marketing Option. High school, St. Pauls. Has Won an impressive list of scholarships. ls active in the Newman Club and is '50-'51 Business Manager of Enter- prise. Fourth Year General Arden R. Haynes Regina Sask. Marketing Option. Third year class president, fourth year U.M.S.U. Treasurer. Along with these activities he still has time for faculty sports and Zeta Psi fraternity, If a poll were taken of the most popular boys in the class, it is safe to say Ardie would be near the top. Henry Iantz Laighan, Sask. Finance Option. Spent four years with the artillery. Entered Engineering in 1947, but switched to Commerce in 1948. Was Senior faculty Rep. on the Curling Club Council and a member of the Rifle Club. Henry is single and intends to enter business. Harry Kury Vernon, B.C. Finance Option. Entered university to relax after spending four years as a Sergeant with the Canadian Paratroopers. Spends his vacations with the C.O.T.C. in Montreal. ls married and has two prospective Commerce students. Plans to enter the Ordi- nance Branch of the Regular Army. Kenneth Little Winnipeg, Man. Finance Option. High school, Daniel Mclntyre. Kenny is very well known in local sports circles. ln between his activities in junior sports, he has played inter faculty soccer, basket- ball and hockey. This year's advertising manager for Enterprise. Also manages to pick up the odd dime during those Hearts sessions. Gordon F. Mintenko Winnipeg, Man. Finance Option. High school, Daniel Mclntyre. Gord entered University in 1948. Since then he has been active in the C.O.T.C. He took Estey from the library every Friday during the fall, but said he never read it. His plans for the future are indefinite. Robert D. Murray Princeville, U.S.A. A U.S. Army veteran. Has been active in extra curricular activitities, and has managed to extend his social activi- ties to include serious connections with one of the Home Ec's. Plans to enter the Consulting Actuary field. Page lO6 Fourth Year General Ralph Allen Huband Finance Option. Was circulating manager for Enterprise last year, and is president of the Commerce Club this year. Never guilty of studious labor, he still manages to obtain better than average exam results. An expert on baseball, he astounds everyone by reeling off scores of obscure statistics and averages. Michael Kazakoff Kamsack, Sask. Was a Navy Lieutenant during the war, before his siege with Actuarial Science. Mike is quiet, friendly, and an all around good guy. Donald F. Lee Winnipeg, Man. Finance Option. High school, North Kildonan Colle- legiate. Don has been active in the University Contingent of the C.O.T.C. lt is said that he is an asset to any Commerce Stag. He plans to enter the business world this spring. Richard John Mills Wilmette, Illinois. Has been active on Commerce football, curling, and track teams. Was 5th year Rep. to Commerce Council. Dick will return to the States and there will enter the service of either the Kemper Insurance Co. or the U.S. Army. Thomas D. Moore Winnipeg, Man. Marketing Option. High schools Kelvin and St. Pauls. Tom is the athletic president of the faculty, and has been active in hockey, track and basketball. He is also active in the Newman Club. Has an infectious laugh. Should be an asset for some lucky firm. Harold O. Noyd Wetaskiwin, Alta. Spent two years with the Army Signal Corps. Attended University of Alberta for one year but realized his mistake in time. Active in curling and l.C.U.F. Ambitions: marriage and Actuarial work. A quiet friendly chap, he'll do well with both.
