Dean Bonney thcially Opens New Field Intramural Softball The P-.I- C. Inttanmral Sol'tlmll League, an Innovation, got olt to a last start with Dean Bonney throwing out the first ball. The Dean proved to have more on the bail than the hurler for the Double Troubles tDTtst as the Stenrhy Stags walked oft with a 19-8 decision. The iirst iew games of the season were played at tPeterson's Paladium' until the annual Work Day brought forth our own softball field behind the parking lot. The new t'ieitl proved to be treacherous in spots with a rash of minor and major injuries ill the doubleheader which christened the field. The league has produced some exciting ball games; the Stenchy Stags came back to trim the Hot Shots, 1943, alter being shaded in the first en- counter, IMO; and the DT's also came up with a close decision over the Hot Slmts in the second game 01' the doubleheader inaugurating the new field alter the Stenchy Stags had eked Out a one-run over the Piug-Portg Papas in the first game. Dean Bonney has been a one-man cheering section, while Ray Bicknell has been a jack-of-all-trades tor short-hamled teamst The trophy which will be donated to Lhe winning team has been sufficient incentive for the members at the Jlour Leams to play each game to the hilt in an effort to grab the cup. The league has proved to be a great success and it might well become an annual allair in lieu of t'ieith'ng 21 school baseball team.

Basketball 1951-5 2 The 1951-52 edition 01' the 131. C. basketball team played a sterling brand of basketball, but were unlortunate enough to run into some 'luatletl' opposition and finished the season with an 8713 record. The reamed, however, does not tell the whole story, as several 01' the losses were by a Jew points, and the games totthl easily have swung the other way with a little more luck. Eddie Hilton led the Stag scorers with a total 01' E164 points, an average 01 17.5 points per game. He was pushed hard by Al Grassi, who racked up 330 points. Greg St. Angelo and Bob Martin also joined lhe 1Deatleye' Cluh. with 216 and 1M points respectively. .106 Harper, Charlie Biekford, and Bob Bean also chipped in with some timely scoring tosses, while Bob Gelittas, Leo May, Irv Levine, and Dave johnson held the opposition to a minimum. One of the highlights 01' the season was the win over Kicker junior College, 82-74, to avenge an opening game defeat by the same team. Among the tough losses were the setbacks by l-Ierrimaek, 104-120, and Bridgman Academy, IUS-l 12. The Stags finished strong with a good record in the Portland Y.M.C.A. Basketball Tournament, reaching the semiifinals hefore being eliminated. Coach Ray Bicknell did a fine job in trying to mold a lighting team from 11 group 01 individual stars. Manager Doug Gulliver was very l'aithtul in periorming the routine tasks which do not bring much glory, but are indispensable to the smooth l'tmc- tioning 01 a team. n.-.-.
