HILT De-an of Instruction fl95ll M.Ed., University of Maine University of Maine Dear Students: One of my greatest concerns is the general welfare o-f the students at Washington State Teachers College. One of my duties as Dean of lnstruction is to see that a pro-gram of studies commensurate with approved teacher education is provided on our campus. ln conjunction with this program the college must assume the responsibility of guiding students so that their own programs of study vvill follow a pattern acceptable to the individual as well as meeting the requirements set up by the state. This is a responsibility that all of the faculty share gladly for it is one of the major functions of a teacher. My greatest wish for all of the students at the college would be that a varied program of studies such as offered at Washingtoin State Teachers College would awaken in them many interests so that after they have left the campus they would continue to be inquiring and mentally alert.
