This Ninety-Fourth college year will stand out in the history of Farmington as one of those occasional peaks which mark the realizations of hopes and plans reaching far back into the consciousness of alumni and faculty. Identified particularly by the accomplishment of general ac- creditation for the first time, factors accelerating a central campus develop- ment and the crystallizing of advancing curricula policies have meant specific progressive movement. Today our college is in a very strategic position to improve its contribution of Maineis higher education in the immediate future. These fulfillments have not come about by accident. They are ap- proaching reality because of earlier committals to a sound institutional philosophy which helps to define the elements characterizing sound growth, and because of the continuing conscious implementation of this philosophy by administration, faculty, and succeeding generations of students. The Class of 1959 is a group which has been an intimate part of this heightened movement during the past four years with each playing a role in these achievements. Without such a sincerity of participation and con- tribution in so many Ways, these would have been more difficult to realize. Farmington now enters into a succeeding phase of collegiate service. There are continuing goals to be defined and procedures to be formulated. You have met your responsibilities Well and have indicated some of the guidepaths to be followed. This is a significant part of the good heritage which you leave to your Alma Mater. It is a stronger college for your having been a part of it. ff President 6
