is :.4.., 7' 'm' 1966 jayhawker, M .D. Award HARRY L. DOUG LAS An award based on gratitude, respect, and admiration must certainly be of value. When that award is given for teaching, by students widely ex- perienced in being taught, the value must be great indeed. The Class of 1966 has selected Dr. Harry L. Douglas as the faculty member who has shown the greatest devotion to his primary duty as a teacher ofmedical students. , Dr. Douglas is a native of Marlin, Texas, and received his medical degree from the University of Kansas in 1938. He served an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center, and com- pleted this training in 1942. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Beta Pi. Dr. Douglasjoined the medical faculty of the University of Kansas as Assistant Professor in 1942, and now serves on the medical staff at the Kansas City Veteran's Administration Hospital. The practical approach andclear thinking which he applied to his meth- od of teaching was evident to all students on his service. His offerings oftutorial sessions in electrocardiographic and roentgenographic interpretation were similarly appreciated. The importance which students attach to these efforts is partially expressed in this award., 11952 1953 1954 1954 1955 1956 1957 1958 1959 1960 1961 1962 1963 1964 1965 PAST AWARDS William P.
