ibeclicafion Since its inception by Chancellor Franklin Murphy in 1950, the preceptor program has become an integral part of a modern medical education. Through the progressive thoughts and actions of some forty physicians in Kansas towns of less than 2,000 population, we members of the class of 1953 have come to realize that medicine as practiced throughout our state need not be overshadowed by that in any other geographical location, be it large or small. Therefore, we proudly dedicate this book to our preceptors, for their important role in our training.
