allsyl41'..2?:3jj . :1: ll 11 iii, , DEDlCATlGN To a gentleman, scholar and outstand- ing teacher, this book is affectionately tied icaled. Henry Carroll Tracy, A. B.: A. M., Ph. D. Professor of Anatomy 1920 to 1950 At the end of this year, Dr. Henry C. Tracy will retire from active teaching after thirty years with the Department of Anatomy of the University of Kansas. As a teacher, he has successfully conveyed to his students the concept of ciliving anatomy,,, and his mastery of the black board and the clay model will be remembered by all of us. His research activities and scientific articles have contributed greatly to the understanding of early development in vertebrates. Far from being purely a specialist, his wide interests and humanistic learning have given him the liberal and under- standing outlook on life that has become so rare in our days of intense partisanship. ln dedicating this issue of the Jayhawker, M. D. to him, the graduating class wish him many more years of scientific activityeand just a bit more leisure time. Alex Roth
