THE NEW DEAL 7Twas a moonlit evening in May, and a cluster of frustrated men were gathered in a dimly lighted room surrounded by mountains of books bearing such ominous titles as fIThe Peripheral Circulation in the Atnoebaf7 In an open window the odor of formalin drifted from a half-open dissecting tank. Spring had come to the medical school. And with it came the problem of enrolling 100 Freshmen where provisions for but 80 had existed before. At length one brave soul identified the object as a bottle of Elixir of Life. IINow, gentle- men, if we were to drink this one fifth3 we would have four fifths remaining, and we shall enroll precisely four fifths of the Freshmen? Thus were Sections A, B, C, D and E born. Thirsting for knowledge, eager Freshmen crowd around Dr. Latimer, a cadaver and each other. From all the smiles, the bone-in-the-sack episode, the accessory spleen atie-ofP and the crystal clear cross-sections on the Head and Neck final are yet to come.
