jaowlbf One of the first hospital units to be activated was the 77th Evacuation Unit, composed of members of the faculty and nursing staffs of the KU Hospitals. With a characteristic esprit de corps under the effective direction of Drs. Hashinger and Weaver, the unit rapidly gained renown. They have participated in invasions on three fronts. Rec- ognizing their efficiency, General Bradley requested that they be returned to England to be on hand for D-day. Request granted, they are following the First Army into Germany. Hume, Chief medical officer for the American forces in Italy, when he received that city's surrender, October l, l943.
