Our new way of life . . . college . . . there are so many, hut we selected SUY . . . the anticipation was immeasurable . , . we hnally arrived . . . seeing the campus, moving in, get- ing acquainted more than filled our hrst few days . , . we fought to keep our heads ahove the mill . . . thousands stream- ing around us . . . we succeeded . . . new friendships of a lasting nature were our reward. 2 I

Becoming a Greek . . . thatis what Rush was all ahout . . . we smiled, we talked, we listened . . . we judged and were judged . . , some of us decided to wear a pledge pin, and we did so proudly ',., now we were Creek . . . a feeling we couldnit de- fine, but express . . . a sense of helonging . . . C0111- mon ties . . , unity without conformity . . . we saw the inadequacies of the system. . .we worked to strengthen it . . . this was the life we had chosen . . . but there w ere others of us who preferred to re- main independent of such social organizations . . . we enjoyed heing on our own , . . we selected our own standards, responsibilities . . , met our Creek friends in the Liner . . , we found stability and ace ceptance within our own group of friends.
