PRESIDENT ' S MESSAGE The HAWKEYE is one of the richest source books we have on the history of the University. The University Catalogue gives a list of the members of the faculty and information about courses of study, the requirements for ad- mission, and various other matters. Other publications tell interesting things about the institution. The physical plant, consisting of the grounds, buildings, laboratory equipment, can be seen. But if one wants a picture of the life of the University, let him read the HAWKEYES for the past forty- four years. There he will find the real story of student life as it manifests itself in a great variety of organizations and student acti- vities. Each issue of the HAWK- EYE serves somewhat as a Hall of Fame and records in permanent form the faces and figures of those who were active on the Campus during their day.
