Spring Hops with Brigadoon5' Spring Musical, sponsored by the Illini Union Student Activities, annually highlights Mom's Day weekend. The 1965 production featured four performances of Brigadoon at the Assembly Hall. This romantic story depicted two lost hunters who stumbled upon the magical town of Brigadoon. Stephen Wallace, James Javore and Gary Gardner alternated in the lead roles of the two hunters. J. Phillip Burwell portrayed the avenging boyfriend who threatened to put an end to the town which appeared only once every one hundred years. The cause for all his ill feelings was the beautiful damsel, Jean Mac Laren, played in tandem by Barbara Casserly and Karen Larsen. Jean's pert sister Fiona was double cast with Patricia Martin and Judith Einhorn. Including the chorus, orchestra and staff, over one hundred students were involved. Credit to Ned Levy This year Edward Levy completed his sixth year of directing at the University of Illinois. He made his debut in the fall of 1960 by directing Stunt Show and introducing the traditional Shaggar Line. Since then he has presented the annual Stunt Shows and Spring Musicals. Mr. Levy does most of his own choreographing. He is also the director of productions at University High School and is the head of the English Department. Here at the University of Illinois, Mr. Levy is an assistant professor in the College of Education. 22
