LOUISE, HERBIE AND ROSE decide to stick it out together as they sing Together Wherever We Are. n.- . MARIE STANLEY MAKES behind-the-scene preparations for her part as a Hollywood Blonde. Spring Musical Spring Musical, which traditionally highlights Mothers' Day Weekend with four performances, provides an excellent opportunity for our campus talent to be discovered while at the same time pro- viding enjoyable entertainment for students, for faculty, and for parents alike. Gypsy was last year's colorful selection. It por- trayed the decline of vaudeville and the rise of bur- lesque in the American theater through the story of Rose Havock and her two daughters, June and Louise. Herbie, their agent, accompanies them through their crises and rise to stardom. Although the cast included over seventy people, the three stars were Julie Eastland as Rose, Judy Thimm as Louise (later known as Gypsy Rose Lee) , and Steve Shore as Herbie. The two act production included all seventeen scenes and twenty musical numbers from the original Broadway production. The final act of the play utilized a spectacular false proscenium and over seven hundred flashing lights with the name Gypsy Rose Lee above. Tryouts for Spring Musical are held at the begin- ning of every spring semester by Ned Levy.
