OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT University of Illinois Urbana, Illinois Dear Students, In these opening pages of the 1957 ILLIO, a first greeting should go to members of the yearbook's staff -- with appreciation for their services and congratulations for their achievement. Not only have they made a graphic presentation of life at Illinoisg they have caught the spirit and personality of a great institution. Years hence -- perhaps after a long time -- some of you again will pick up this ILLIO and will find it an album of pleasant personal recol- lections. It will contain memories of friendships, of happy events, of exciting experiences. And in those future years when you recall the University and what it means and has meant to you, we hope you will be able to feel that through the years you have given your alma mater the support it needs from its alumni as it serves the people of Illinois. The University is a partnership of many individuals and many groups. Its strength comes from all those interested in its welfare. We rejoice in these associations.
