Members of the faculty are engaged in scores of research activi- ties for the armv and navy. many of them of a secret nature that cannot lie divulged until the lighting ceases. Instructional facilities are training men in the Arniv Special 'I'raining Program. the Navy Diesel School and the Armv Star Course. A great armv of Illini is fighting on every front, from the Aleutians to the Solomons, from Naples to India, in the air over Berlin and under the sea off Tokyo. In the first txvo vears of the xvar one hundred sixty-seven Illinois alumni gave their lives for America. The trustees and administrative personnel of the University feel that theirs is a dual responsibility. I-'or not alone do thev recognize an obligation to give everything at their disposal xvhich may further our militarv action toXi1lI'LlS victoria. ln equal measure they assume duties uhich envision the future peace- time xvorld and its progressive needs. Among the projects nou in the planning phase are the Institute of lfootl Research and the neu' Uni- versity Airport for aeronautfcal experiment and in- struction. lioth of these developments are of major importance.
