TO THE STUDENTS: llhether or not victory Will be achieved in 19-H by our military forces depends upon many factors, most of which now seem to be operating in favor of the Allies. But it is not too soon to begin thinking about it and to make plans for it so the University of Illinois will be ready to serve the returning veterans, some of whom are already appearing on college campuses. The xvar is yet to be won and the University is devoting many of its resources to that end, while still providing for all those civilian students who are able to continue with their college education. Many members of the faculty and staff of this institution have made and are making important contributions toward winning the war. At the same time the many and diverse problems which will arise when the war is ended have not gone unheeded. In fact, im- portant studies of these matters have been in progress for many months so that we shall be prepared to render those services and to perform those functions which, as a progres- sive and forward-looking educational institution, We are most qualified to do.
