Ciba uarbes RTHLYR R. HALL, '01, has been head coach of the Varsity football team since 1904, when the graduate coaching system was adopted. His ap- pointment to that position came as a result of the remarkable record which he had made as a player while in the Lniyersity. For four years. from 1897 to 1000, he was a member of the fcotball eleven, playing the positions of halfback and end. ln his senior year he was cap- tain, and the following season. the fall of 1001, he was assistant coach of the team which won the historic 2-1 to ll USTA M. LINDGREN, '02, be- came assistant coachin 1001, tak- ing the position after two years' experience as coach of the team at Cor- nell College, Iowa. Lindy's athletic rec- ord while a student in the Lniversity was an enviable one. He played foot- ball during the four years of his college course, from 1898 to 1001, his positions being halfback, end, and right tackle. He holds the distinction of being Captain of the team of the season of 1901, when such stars as Jimmy Cook, Louie Loweri- thal, Jake Stahl, and Charles Fair- weather helped to bring about that memorable defeat of the Klaroons. yictorv over Chicago.
