Early semester bashes lure greeks and friends UH fraternities and sororities clove into the semester early with Delta Gamma's 1st annual Anchor Splash. Eleven fraternities participated in the national project designed to build inter-fraternity competition and spirit. There were six events, ranging from a penny search to a watermelon relay. Members of Delta Gamma served as coaches, while local disc jockeys and Delta Gamma advisory members made up a judging panel. Martin Buck-holt . was named Mr. Anchor Splash. Sigma Chi was the overall winner. A month later. Chi Omega. Delta Gamma, Phi Mu. and Delta Zeta got together for the Theta Tan Follies, an annual event sponsored by the engineering fraternity. Sorority sisters competed in a rope pull, egg toss, fin and mask race and a five-legged race. Th «.i Tan Follm III

Campus hosts traveling entertainers Houston’s cool autumn weather wasn't the only thing luring students away from their usual study places, as a variety of entertainment was presented around the campus. The Royal Lichtenstein Circus returned with more feats to thrill UHers. Hundreds held their breath as the featured escape artist was locked inside a container of water. Other campus attractions included mime artist Keith Berger. Luigi's Jazz Dance Company and the Lamb Players.
