Ross Strader. Communications Professor, conducts o photography class. Classes provide a chance to grow Classes became an adventure and a chance to prove an ability. From designing classes in the Architecture Department, to Home Economics courses, the central stress was on the overall development of the basic aptitudes. Our Optometry Department, one of the top five in the nation, provided public facilities to both the Houston citizens and UH's students. In the Drama Department, courses were offered which put an emphasis on the techniques of the stage. Together, all the departments as a university, provided a learning experience to meet any educational goals. Randy Boulden, sophomore math teacher education major, spends timo between classes studying in the Satelite University Conter. 27

Free fair rides with cosmic cowboy I just wont to be a cosmic cowboy rang out among all who caught Michael Murphy s performance during the fall free fair sponsored by UH Program Council. Each semester PC uses student fees to bring top entertainment to campus. The event usually starts in the afternoon and runs until late that evening. Local bands also show. Usually free food and beer are served: however, this year because of state policy free food was not served. Since it is against campus policy for beer to be served on campus before 5 p.m. there was no beer in the afternoon. But PC planned other activities such as a hula hoop contest and a bubble gum blowing contest. ABOVE LEFT: Another highlight of the fall free fair was the roll your own joint booth. However, the disappointment wos the participants were only rolling straight tobacco. ABOVE: Marvel McFey. the popular Astroworld character, and some of his frionds were on hand during the free fair. Marvel gave two performances for the afternoon hour audience. LEFT: This lonely hobbit was left unclaimed by its creator who participated in the clay modeling contest during the fall free fair. 29
