Downtown School Branches SCHOOL COMBINES WORK AND STUDIES Over 1,600 academic students are served by the University’s Downtown School, located at 925 Caroline. Many of these students come from the professional and business worlds, combining practical experience with their studies. For the student interested in retailing as a career, the school offers a unique combination of supervised job experience and academic training leading to a B.B.A. degree. DEAN—James C. Taylor has been with the University since 1917 and is recognized as one of the outstanding leaders in civic work. Dean Taylor is in constant demand as a speaker for both local and national executive and sales clinics. JAMES C. TAYLOR 29 DOORS REMAIN OPEN (or classes from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and classes arc held the early part of Saturday.

Technology Colleges A. HAY SIMS TECHNOLOGY HAS TWO DIVISIONS Two divisions are included in the College of Technolog)', established at the University in 1941. One is the Technical Institute Division, which is concerned with the education and training of engineering technicians; the men who plan, build, test, operate and sen-ice the technological equipment designed and developed by the scientist and the engineer. Also included is the Industrial-Mechanical Division. concerned with the training of skilled technicians. the persons trained to install, repair and operate machinery. DEAN—A. Hay Sims, dean of the Gdlcgc of Technolog)-, is an authority on technical institute education. Dean Sims was one of six technical education officials to visit the Soviet Union during May, 1961, under a Cultural Exchange Agreement. 28 DIESEL MACHINERY i« included in the facilities of the College of Technology.

Registrar RAMON A. VITULLI REGISTRAR KEEPS ACADEMIC FILES Many details about a University of Houston student's academic life, including bow many and what courses he is taking, bis current grades and bis scholastic standing may be found in the Registrar's office. A graduate of the University of Houston. Ramon A. Vitulli was promoted to his present position of registrar in 1950. Mr. Vitulli had previously held the position of director of admissions. Counseling and Testing INTERVIEWS ARE AID TO STUDENT Each year the Counseling and Testing Service schedules series of tests for prospective freshmen. Designed to assemble pertinent data as to aptitudes, achievements and attitudes, these tests are aided by interviews between students and trained counselors to determine the field of study best suited for each student DIRECTOR—Dr. Franklin L Stovall serves as a professor of psychology as well as director of the Center.
