BLAKELY STUDENTS LEARN NATURE OF LAW Located in a wing of the M.D. Anderson Memorial Library, the College of Law instructs students so that graduates can practice law wherever the Anglo-American system of law prevails. Other objectives of the College include training students in the fundamental techniques of law and the imparting of an understanding of the high nature of the profession. DEAN—Newell II. Blakely entered the service of the University of Houston as an assistant professor of law in 1949. lie assumed the position of dean in 1957. Engineering DR. F. M. TILLER ENGINEERING MEETS CONTINUING CHALLENGE TO EDUCATION Training and preparation of engineers offers a continuing challenge to our educational program. The Cullen College of Engineering has accepted and met this challenge. Consisting of modern, air-conditioned classrooms along with specialized laboratories, the College has experienced widespread acceptance. DEAN—Dr. F. M. Tiller comes to the University with an impressive list of teaching and professional experience. Dr. Tiller is the author of a number of papers, and holds offices and membership in many local and national engineering societies. Optometry DR. CHESTER H. PHEIFFER COLLEGE AIMS TO TRAIN STUDENTS IN VISUAL SCIENCE Opened in 1952. the College of Optometry is the only one of its kind in the southwest. Major objectives of the College are to train its students in the knowledge and skills used in the practice of optometry and to provide an understanding of the basic facts in the field of visual science. DEAN—Or. Chester H. Pheiffer joined the I’niversity of Houston faculty in 1951. The author of many articles in optometric journals. Dr. Pheiffer assumed his duties as dean in June of 1961. 26 OPTOMETRY STUDENTS examine a patient in the Optometry Clinic, located in the basement of the Science Building.
