Student Life Deans DEAN OF MEN Dr. James E. W illiamson. Doan of men. came to the University of Houston in 1912. His educational background includes a B.S. degree from Stephen F. Austin State College. M.A. from Texas Technological College and Ed.I). from Colorado State College. Since coming to the University I)r. Williamson has held the positions of associate professor of mathematics, professor of education, acting director of loans and scholarships and director of student activities. In addition to his duties as dean of men, Dr. W'illiamson also senes as sponsor of Student Government. DR. JAMES K. WILLI MSON DEAN OF WOMEN All sorority activities pass through the Dean of Women's office, as do any items concerning the women on our campus. Mrs. Bessie M. Ebaugh. dean of women, has ! ccn with the University since its founding. She received her B.A. from Newcomb College aud her M.A. from Columbia University. MRS. BESSIE M. EBAUGH 14

Assistant to President Administration DR. JOHN C. ALLRED confers with President Hoffman. ADMINISTRATOR IS PHYSICIST Before becoming assistant to the president. I)r. John C. All-red served the University as associate dean of Arts and Sciences as well as a professor of physics. Along with his capabilities as an administrator. Dr. All-red is a brilliant physicist. He has done much research in that field and is working on a project at this time. Dr. Allred holds a B.A. from Texas Christian University, a M.A. from the University of Texas, and a Ph.D., also from the University of Texas. Dean of Students JOHNSON DIRECTS STUDENT SERVICES Directing and coordinating student sen-ices is the job of Dr. Alan W. Johnson, appointed as dean of students last fall. Dr. Johnson, who served as associate dean of students at San Francisco State College before coming to the University of Houston, holds a Doctor of Education degree from the University of California. While at San Francisco State, he planned and operated the entire undergraduate academic student counseling program, which included educational and vocational guidance. DR. ALAN W. JOHNSON

Administration Assistant Deans MRS. CHARLOTTE E. HADDICK ASSISTANT DEAN OF WOMEN Aside from her duties as assistant dean of women. Mrs. E. Maddick also serves as advisor to the executive council of the Women’s Student Association. A graduate of Baylor University, Mrs. Maddick previously served as assistant director of Loans and Scholarships. ASSISTANT DEAN OF MEN As advisor to the Interfraternity Council, sponsor of the cheerleaders and professor of English, assistant dean of men L. Standlce Mitchell moves at a fast pace.
