staff acknowledgement The publication of this book would not have been possible without the complete cooperation of many people outside the working staff. Martin Hamilton, representative of Taylor Publishing Company, has always been ready to lend a helping hand and answer any ques- tions that would come up. Tom Murray, art director for Taylor, provided new and different ideas for layouts. The 1953 staff has worked under many handicaps, and without Mr. Murrafs help this book would not have been com- pleted. To our photo editor, Wyn Wardell, and his workers Pete Liddell, Bernie Goodman, Dick Stewart, and Maurice Miller, we would like to extend very special thanks. Many afternoons and nights were spent shooting and printing pictures. And to Don Chatham of Chatham Studio, who shot the sorority, fraternity, and vanity fair sections-we believe these are among the outstanding sections. Mr. Chatham took time out from his work to make a special trip to Taylor to insure the best quality of work possible. The 1953 staff would like to say thanks to all of you who have contributed work toward this book, which incidentally is the largest Houstonian ever published. Without you it could not have been possible. the houstonian staff
