STAFF ACKNOWLEDGMENTS Your 1950 Houstonian is the work of many minds and hands. Any annual, large or small, needs the services of a varied group, using their many talents. Giving credit to all who made The 1950 Houstonian a reality is a big job involving the cooperation of almost every student and faculty member in one way or another. First job that confronted us was the class section. Wheat studios worked through the turmoil of registration to help set a record in the number of class pictures taken for any Houstonian. Keeping more than 2300 pic- tures straight was a difficult job, but Wheat came through in fine style. The Vanity Fair Beauty section photographs were produced by Miss Martha Pyke of the University ' s photography department and her student photographers. Jim Brand, Yvonne Corrigan, John J. Ford, W. Walter Gural, Marvin Harris, Ray Hembree, Robert E. Johnson, Carolyn Litowich, Ted Marek, and Molly Reed. They did a great job. Kappa Alpjha Mu pictorial journalism fraternity and the University ' s photography department came through for us with pictorial coverage of the campus, its activities, and its students. Without top-quality pictures, you can ' t have a good yearbook. Individually our photographers corps, led by Dan Hardy, included Jim Cummings, Ira Dischler, Keith Hawkins, Glenn Heath, and Ted Marek. Photography without printing, however, can ' t produce the best Hous- tonian possible. Taylor Publishing company, our printers, was the final link in a chain that bound The 1950 Houstonian together. Taylor ' s rep- resentative, Martin Hamilton, was on call whenever we ran into the stum- bling blocks of an annual. Tom Murray, Taylor ' s art editor, kept close watch on the book at the plant and also designed the title page, contents, and cover. Since this book is the largest lithographed annual ever produced in Texas, it is fitting that the job should be done by the largest yearbook lithography concern in the coimtry. That brings us to you, the reader, again, in the book ' s creation, you played your respective part. Now it ' s ready, your 19.50 HOUSTONIAN. THE HOUSTONIAN STAFF N. S. THE EZEKIEI. W. CLLLEN ADMINISTRATION BUILDING DEDICATION Around us rise the symbols of the University of Houston ' s progress. It is impossible to walk between ituildings on the campus without realizing the tremendous growth which is taking place as each day passes. Construction has become such a familiar sight to us that wc often traverse the grounds without consciously noticing the constant iniproxcmciit and eidargcment taking place.
