7f? Man of the year is J. E. XViniamson, student activities director. to whom the 1946 Houstonian is dedicated. By good will and hy practical example. Mr. VViHiamson has demonstrated that the manifold student activity program of the University can he a vital force in shaping student Character. Mr. Williamson accepted the position of activities director in 1944. Since then he has been the guiding light of student activity at a crucial point in campus history F. a moment when the campus assumed its place as the second largest in Texas. HPractical education means the ability to work congeniany with and for people, Mr. XViniamson says. HI feel that my job as a student activities director should he that of a guide and not a dictator, he smiles. In addition to being a student activities director. Mr. hViHiamson is an assistant professor of mathematics at the University. Always with a friendly smite, always ready to help each student, Mr. Williamson is a living example of good will. The student body owes him a debt of gratitude, and the Houstonian staff attempts in a smaH way to pay that debt with this dedication.
