Assembly Committee The Assembly Committee, sponsored by Mrs. Rieke, was formed in order to plan more representative assembly programs. The organization has had four luncheons this year at which new programs were planned and old ones evaluated. Sixty percent of the student body appeared on programs the first semester. The Committee agreed that the year's programs were the best U. High has had for some time. Every club and home-room was represented on this Committee. Fourth row-Paterson, Vaughn, Elston, Klein, North. . Sphinx Staff The purpose of the Sphinx Staff is to publish weekly all the news and to mold opinion for the good of the school. The staff is composed of representatives from each home room and the students in Miss Bach's journalism class. Mary Anne Stearns was editor-in-chief during 1940-41. One of the hi- lights of the year was the Book Crusade Week. 500 books were added to the li- brary by this campaign. New furniture purchased this year has added to the attractiveness of the library. Programs were presented to the student body to encourage wider use of the library. This club has also given valuable training for future librarians to its members.
