SEASON The i959 Troian Track Squad was o Cinderella team. In iust one yeor the squad rose from an obscure team to one of the strongest in all Central Texas. Featuring one of the strongest stable of distance runners in the state, the Trojans breezed to victories in the Cameron Relays and the District 9AAA Meet. One of the most thrilling performances of the year took place at the Cameron Relays where University won the meet by one half point over the Temple Wildcats. Temple was the only team that gave the Trojans any competition pointwise. Until the last few events of the meet the UHS Squad was trailing by a number of points. Then came three places in the 880 yard run for University. This put the Troians in contention for the win. With only one event left on the schedule, the Troians needed a first in the mile relay to win the meet. This race saw a UHS relay team virtually outrun a Waco High team on nothing but sheer determination to win the mile relay and the Cameron Relays. Starring in this meet were Johnny Dolezel in the 880 yard run and Dub Allen in the mile run.
