Kay Futch steals a wild Bronco pass in the Bryan game. Bill Koch and Eldred Wallis rush down court to assist. The University squad had much success in tournaments this season. Troian roundballers placed in the following tournaments: Bryan, Corsicana and Temple. University finished second in the district behind Killeen. The Troians posted a 6-2 district record in doing this. Co-Captains for the Troians were Bill Koch and Wayne Barnett. The leading scorer for University was Ray Futch. Wayne Barnett dribbles down court for the Trojans. Wayne was one of the leading ball handlers on the team.

Members of the i959 Troian Baseball Squad are on the first row, left to right: Carl Floyd Robert Reid, Bud Spence, Gary Covey, Captain Larry Weeks, Orval Kilgore, Billy Black Orland Long, Chris Rodriquez. On the second row are Mr. Pearson, Larry Lancaster, Billy Case, Aubrey Richards, Lewis Davis, Claude Pane, Johnny Whiteside, Jerry Dyer, and Bob Moore. The l959 rendition of the University High Baseball Squad proved to be one of the most interesting in past years, since it saw the team play a number of close games against good teams, yet lose many of these. Many sophomores and juniors were on the team. In fact, there were eight starters that were either iuniors or sophomores. There were many exciting games played by the Trojans.
