The Schooner Senior Class History Unlike most Senior Classes in other high schools the senior class of '25 is composed, for the most part, of the best students fronrmany of the schools through- out this state. These students, with very few excep- tions, have come to the University High School within the last year or two. Four of our class mates came to us at the beginning of the second semester of the present term, from Norman High School. Two have some from out in the state, while the president of the class is the only one of the graduating class that has been in University High School the full four years re- quired to complete the high school course. The other twelve members of the class are from different points in O'klahoma. Considering the fact that very' few of us have been in University High School more than a year or two, we believe that we have one of the best classes that has eve: graduated from University High School. VVe have all made creditable beginning toward meeting all requirements for graduation and we do not expect any member of the class to stop short of the goal he has set for himself to attain by commencement time in june. Our total number is nineteen but as we have had no trouble in keeping our social and financial affairs straight we are all proud to be of the class of '25. May we all prosper. Plan Swmnc

The Schooner Senior Class Prophecy Members of ye senior class, gather around allil the prophet Abduzah will read your future in the magic crystal. As the realm of the future unfolds itself the first one of your number who appears to me is your president, Mr. Guy Williams. I see the wide open plains of a far western ranch. In the midst of a group of burly cowboys stands Guy on two soap boxes. In one hand he holds a lavender silk shirt with a soiled spot on it and in the other hand he is waving aloft a large box of Lux. Guy is shouting in sten- torian tones, Come, boys, and watch this wonderful demonstration! Chance of a life- time! The dirt is washed away as if by magic by this wonderful new discovery! One of the most unkempt of them cries out. 'fOh, go tell that to the marines, we don't wear such things as silk shirts! Lynch him! Lynch. him!, they all cry, as Guy makes a hasty retreat. ' . This picture fades away to give place to one of Mr. Bartolina. He is standing in a large auditorium before a multitude of ,breathless spectators, who listen in hushed silence as he plays his immortal composition, U. H. S. Forever. There is aislighly superior expression on his countenance as the melodious strains of the music penetrate the air. As the picture disappears, we are confident that he has the dream of his youth idealized. The next person to appear upon the scene is the secretary of a very important Wo- man's Suffrage Society. The other officers are waiting very impatiently for her to come to an urgent meeting, while she who has gained approximately one hundred pounds since we last saw her, is combing the hair of her white, small poodle dog. When she arrives breathlessly she is fumbling with a diamond lavaliere and crooning baby names to the fluffy pup she carries. When the crystal comes dark again the members of the committee are still vainly trying to get Artine to proceed with the necessary business. Nellie Dustin, Delinda Walker, Helen Eades, Esther Grimes, and Nyna Stone appear. They seem to be the center of attraction, dancing lightly over the stage to the strains of Edward's new composition, When You and I VVere Young Sallie Blues. Pauline is the gay, live and Winsome star of the evening. The picture fades away and in its place we see the pugilist ring in Podunk, Illinois. Sypert Johnston is about to be declared the world's champion prize fighter, while his wife and manager, who was once Mary Belle Scruggs, is checking the mad onrush of the crowd who is enthusiastically congratulating him. Next, there appears: before me a very busy clerk in a large store. Juanita is work- ing in the art department and her old friend, Beatrice Richardson, is her customer. Beat- rice is trying to select some coral colored oil paints but Miss Ayers, who is slightly color blind, repeatedly tries to substitute red instead. Beatrice who has become the most famous artist in the United States, has just completed the picture that has made her famous, the one of Miss Mabel Hodges, once supervisor of English in University High School. Bradford and Louise now appear to me as husband and wife. Bradford is a collector of antiques but Mrs. Turley. is' very particular about the articles he collects .For in- stance, she opposes the idea of her husband keeping the vanities he collected in the ancient days when he was a senior in U. H. S. This picture vanishes and in its place I see Freda Moreman, not as she was in high school. but as a very prim old maid sitting at her desk in a little one-room school house in the hills of Arkansas. Her nearest neighbor is Bill Buchanan and I see him diligently plowing with a forsaken looking team. The soil he is tilling will soon grow cow peas and as this picture disappears Bill is still faithfully plowing. The last one of the Senior Class that I see is George Metz. He is a matinee idol at the New Amsterdam Theater in New York. This is his third successive season in that famous play Hjellybeans and Flappersf' The theater guild has commended his work very highly and he is the hero of all the girls from ten to forty-five years inclusive, just as he was in the days of yore at U. H. S. Finally, there appears a picture of the future lives of two of our supervisors. Miss Kate Barbour and Mr. F. F. Gaither have just returned from their honeymoon, and in behalf of the members of the Senior Class of 1925, I wish to extend to them my hearty congratulations. And as the crystal grows dark once more, thus ends the Senior prophecy. -ABDUZAH. Page Eighteen
