To the I2th grade graduation and 8th grade promotional classes of University High School It is with extreme pride and pleasure that | congratulate you on the completion of anoth- er phase of your educational life. This year as Americans we have been exposed to a multi- tude of happenings, from the horrors of the space shuttle Challenger and AIDS to the es- tablishment of a national holiday for Dr. Mar- tin Luther King Jr. and the triumph of “We Are the World”. It is clear that we grow not only from our personal experiences but from those of oth- ers and life around us. It is my hope that the experiences you have had during your stay at University High School have helped enrich your lives and lead you to greater things to come. My best to you always. You will remain a member of the University family. Sincerely, en James Moore, Jr. Principal What can | say to you that you gave not already heard during your high school ca- reer? | am sure you already know that the diligent effort and positive attitudes you have exhibited throughout the last four (4) years will give you a solid foundation upon which to continue building the framework of your future. It is a framework lashed together by the friendships you have developed at University High School, the interaction be- tween you and your teachers, and the practi- cal knowledge gained from your particular course of study. Now it is up to you to take what you have learned and shape it to fit your dreams and goals as you progress in the structuring of your life. Congratulations! Thelma Jones

At University, one of the key ideas is the rela- tionship among parents, teachers and students as they unite in their efforts to create a unique learning situation, where the students benefit interpersonnally as well as in the area of education. University High, being a school for gifted and talented students, stresses exceptional academ- ics and higher learning. Another goal is to com- bine the first institution of learning, the home, with the secondary institution of learning, Uni- versity High, to form a strong body of knowl- edge in both social and pedagogical fields.
