Experience Gained Under flew Coach Top row: Mary Baumann, Nicky Theard, Michelle Williams, Leslie Speros, Debbie Simons, Christy Bondra, Kathv karr, Kris Barnes, (ovanna Guess. Below: Coach Shar Wallander. A substitution is made Leslie and Nicky go up for the block. Seven players became the players to assist Leslie and Kathy to form the varsity team. Deb- bie Simons came out of nowhere to spike and serve with amazing effectiveness. Jovanna Guess, a sophomore, has fine jumping ability and improves with each game she plays. Two seniors will be missed by the coach, Kris Barnes a backcourt specialist can also hit with a great deal of effectiveness. Christi Bondra is just beginning to learn how to use her height of six feet for spiking and blocking. Three juniors will continue with the team in ' 81. Michelle Williams is learning to do everything — backcourt defense and front- court offense. Mary Baumann has tremendous spirit and thrives on defensive digs. Nicky Theard has the height and abil- ity to provide a strong middle hitting and blocking strength for Uni. A winning game over Costa Mesa gave Uni the same num- ber of league wins as it ' s record in 1979. Other exciting games included a two game win over San Clemente and a win over Laguna.
