Long Beach Each year I grow from experiences with the University High School stu- dents. l would like to thank the gradu- ating class for the contributions you have made to the school, community and to me personally. Homecoming Week was our best one yet because it was planned, organ- ized, and followed through by many student body members. Our Christ- mas Formal, Senior Prom, 50's Dance, Pa Pa Doo Run Run Dance, Drama Productions, Choral Concerts, Band, Pep Squad, Drill Team, Athletic Teams, Clubs, Classes, and organiza- tions will be remembered as being fun and educationally sound. There is a glimmer of light on the UHS horizon that our student body is becoming service oriented. Our kids are becoming interested in what can we do for our community. This is not a surprise since excellence, participa- tion, and commitment are character traits present in our student body. Our year has been one where kids were visible, got with the pro- gram, and learned to follow up. Therefore, someday soon, University High will become the kind of place to which kids run because they want to be here. l think that was the frame- work within which UHS was started. The People 259
