Track Take The Field Senior Ty Harper, one of U-Hi's best iavelin thmwers, offered good potential to state competition this year. One of the best high jumpers in Eastem Washington was Senior Steve Uht, His highest jump to date is 67 . Track Team Sets High Goals The 1979 co-ed Track teams are anticipating an outstanding season, according to Coach Bill Ames. The coaching staff and athletes have set high goals for 1979, the iirst ot which is the Greater Spokane League Championship, followed by a big State win! This year's Track team consists of a number of quality athletes, some of whom were 1978 state competitors- Kitty Byrne, Renee Bagwell, and Erik Krauss. I believe 1979 will be one of the best years ever at University High School in Track and Field, stated Coach Ames. Returning State Veteran Kitty Byme reaches fora U-Hi victory in the 880. Kitty earned top middle distance runner title in the Greater Spokane League. She placed second in G.S.L. in herlunior year. s Renee Bagwell paced U-Hi hopes for state in the Top Weight Shotput. She was one of three State Veterans from Junior year efforts. Rated one of the top sprinters in the state by Coach Ames, Erik Krauss awaited Spring competition with enthusiasm. His 100 yard dash performances earned him a State birth last year.
